Missing Letters in CVC words

 

This is a simple hands-on activity to work on letter sounds in CVC words for K-1st grade students. 

I used this tool for students with limited language. He had an IEP goal on phonemic awareness, and we are not sure if the student is making any progress on this goal. Can he associate the letters and their sounds?  

"What sounds does this letter make?"

"...." 

"Which letter makes /f/ sound?"

"....."

Once trying this material, we were surprised how much this student can actually differentiate between letter sounds and can match the letter to its sound.
